What is mechanical hackmore?

Mechanical hackamore is a bitless horse riding equipment that is designed to control the horse without using a bit. It consists of a metal noseband, which is attached to leather or synthetic reins. The noseband of the hackamore is attached to two shanks or arms that are hinged at the sides in order to create a leverage effect.

When the rider pulls on the reins, the noseband of the mechanical hackamore applies pressure to the horse's nose, chin, and jaw. This pressure helps to signal the horse to turn, slow down, or stop. The hackamore is often used in western riding disciplines such as barrel racing, roping, and reining, as well as in trail riding and endurance riding.

It is important to note that the use of the mechanical hackamore requires a skilled rider who is able to properly apply and release pressure. Overuse or misuse of the tool can cause discomfort or pain to the horse. As with any type of horse equipment, it is recommended that riders seek the guidance of a professional trainer or instructor before using a mechanical hackamore.
